Yelp's AI agent will phone restaurants for wait times

Yelp is adding Check for Me, a feature that lets app users have an AI voice agent call a restaurant to check wait times. Users enter their party size and phone number on a restaurant page, and the agent texts back the results. A new OpenTable integration in Yelp's AI assistant lets users book tables without leaving the app. TechCrunch notes that when two agents talk to each other, the conversation might break down.

Why it matters: If your venue takes phone bookings, Yelp's agent may start calling to ask about wait times, as other AI assistants already call businesses. Yelp has not yet announced Australian availability for Check for Me.
